I had a really sobering experience right from the very beginning of this project. The deconstruction map of my life gave me the insight that there was an unexpected conflict in my wants and needs. The wants section contained things like money, fame, and success whereas the needs section held happiness, family, and friends. This was a profound discovery for me that led to the realisation that the most important elements of my life are those that are influenced by the people I love. Therefore, my life model became a collection of nine small objects, a signifier for each of the most precious people and places in my life. For example: the letterpress initials of my best friend and a section of bone from my home farmland. I presented these nine signifiers on a tall plinth, that simultaneously suggests a feeling of euphoria and precariousness, an interesting dichotomy that currently exists in my life.
